Costumes for Survival

Costumes for Survival, is a wearable, living sculptural project that anticipates a future in which all we need is carried on our backs: our own personal, flexible spaceship set for living in a more than human world, a world where such material must be repurposed, multi-functional, protective, habitable, and shareable. These wearable constructions are informed by the adaptability of plants and animals, and address the challenges and opportunities of life in water, air and soil in the face of climate change.  The costumes are divided into Air (hangable), Water (floatable,) Food (growing costumes) and Caregiver (all-inclusive). All materials are repurposed from domestic detritus--clothing, toys, appliances etc. and hand sewn.
